Doraemon fans, you’re going to need these iPhone 12 chargers from Anker

The iPhone 12 series was launched with an expected caveat: no chargers will be available in the box. All you get is a USB-C to Lightning cable, which you’ll need to plug into a USB-C charging adapter (because of Apple’s sustainability efforts, of course). All jokes aside, USB-C charging adapters can be pricey, and not everybody—contrary to what Apple expects—has spare adapters lying around the house.

Doraemon fans, this one is for you.

Popular brand Anker has just announced a series of Doraemon-themed chargers and cables, all designed for the brand new iPhone 12 series. You can, of course, use the chargers for older iPhones or iPads, but these appear to be specifically targeted towards Apple’s newest iPhone lineup.

As part of the range, Anker is releasing two USB-C charging bricks, which can charge the new iPhone 12 at 20W (0-50 percent in half an hour). The smaller brick looks a lot like Anker’s miniature Nano charger (single USB-C port), while the larger adapter has a standard USB-A port in addition to USB-C. The larger power brick is probably the one you want to get—particularly if you have multiple devices that support the high speeds.

As high as 65W, in fact. This means that you’ll be able to charge compatible laptops and other smartphones with the larger charging adapter. As we all know, many Android smartphones, such as the OnePlus 8T, support charging speeds that more than double the speeds that you get with Apple’s latest iPhones. Anker promises that you’ll be able to fully charge a MacBook Pro in two hours with the mid-sized charger, so there’s that as well.

And yes, a blue wireless charger is coming, too. In addition to supporting the new MagSafe protocol for the iPhone 12, you’ll also be able to charge Qi-compatible devices at 15W—so you can charge things like your AirPods, or other phones. Anker promises efficient heat dissipation, which is supposedly down to the aluminium allow used for the bottom shell, along with the “ultra-thin” body of the charging pad.

Plus, if you need more cables, Anker is also releasing cables in the colours of your favourite cat (I apologise if this isn’t the case). There is a USB-C to Lightning cable, along with the altogether more common USB-C to USB-C cable, which you can use to charge PD-compliant devices, including the MacBook Pro.

All of the products above will open for pre-orders on the 4th of November 2020 in China, but there isn’t any word yet on a wider release globally. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed either, although there are still regular, non-Doraemon branded versions of these accessories available as well.

So, what do you think? Now, all you need is a blue Doraemon case for your brand new iPhone 12.
