COVID-19: 834 new cases and 900 new recoveries reported today

Malaysia has recorded 834 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 33,339. There are 2 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 251.

The Ministry of Health has reported 900 new recoveries and a total of 23,120 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 69.3% while the mortality rate is 0.8%.

There are currently 9,968 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 91 are in ICU while 32 require respiratory support.

Out of the 834 new cases today, 3 are imported while 831 are transmitted locally. Sabah records the most with 503 cases, followed by Selangor with 129 cases, Labuan with 105 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 22 cases and Penang with 21 cases. The states of Melaka, Perlis and Terengganu did not report new cases today.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Wisma Saberkas cluster in Kuching, Seridana cluster in Putrajaya, Pusat Tahan Sementara (PTS) cluster in Tawau, Tenaga cluster in Labuan and Gedong cluster which covers the Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Johor and Putrajaya.

A total of 38 clusters have reported new cases today. The newly identified Tenaga and PTS clusters have recorded the most with 57 and 42 cases respectively. This is followed by Saguking cluster with 19 cases, Titir cluster with 18 cases and Hentian cluster with 16 cases.
