Nord N10 & N100: OnePlus heard you wanted cheap phones

Looks like OnePlus was nord done with their mid-range Nord lineup as the company has just pulled the covers off a brand new duo. The two new smartphones are the OnePlus Nord N10 and Nord N100. Designed to sit below the standard Nord, these two phones have been priced to enter the entry-level and affordable mid-range segment.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G

Of the duo, the Nord N10 is the only 5G capable device. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 processor mated to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. You can further expand this storage via a microSD card. Keeping the lights on is a 4,300 mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30T fast wired charging via a USB-C port.

Up front, the device comes with a 6.49″ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It still pushes a Full HD+ resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Because of this, OnePlus has had to fit a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner rather than an in-display one.

For photography, the Nord N10 comes with a 64MP main wide angle camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a macro camera nad a depth sensor. Up front, there’s a single punch hole now that houses a 16MP selfie shooter.

Most interesting is the fact that the Nord N10 comes with a pair of stereo speakers—something not even the more expensive Nord has—as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. That sounds like a great combo for anyone interested in consuming content, if you ask me.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G will retail for EUR 350 (~RM1,714) in Europe, which makes it about EUR 50 (~RM245) cheaper than the original base-model Nord at launch. With that in mind, my best guess for the Nord N10, if it does come into Malaysia, is that it will probably retail for around the RM1,300 mark.

OnePlus Nord N100

Over on the entry-level side of things, you’ve got the Nord N100. This smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Much like the Nord N10, this is also expandable via a microSD card slot. Powering this phone, however, is a much larger 5,000 mAh battery, but it doesn’t support Warp Charge 30T. Instead, fast-charging here tops out at 18W.

For photos, the OnePlus Nord N100 gets a triple camera setup featuring a 13MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera. Up front, it gets an 8MP selfie shooter. Clearly an entry-level setup here.

As far as the display is concerned, Nord N100 isn’t even getting a Full HD panel. Instead, it settles for a 6.52″ IPS LCD HD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate. However, you still get Gorilla Glass 3 over the top, and a pair of stereo speakers flanking it. Also like the N10, the N100 has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Because of these specs, the Nord N100 will retail for EUR 200 (~RM984) in Europe, so it’ll definitely be a sub-RM1,000 smartphone if it does make it into the Malaysian market.

It’s interesting to me that OnePlus now wants to play at the low-end of the market, but I welcome competition, especially when it’s running Oxygen OS. What do you guys think of the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100? Let me know in the comments below.
