Malaysia has reported 589 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 18,129. There are 3 new deaths reported in Sabah today and the death toll is now 170.
The Ministry of Health has reported 409 new recoveries which is the highest single-day recovery in Malaysia. A total of 12,014 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 66.27% while the mortality rate is 0.94%.
There are currently 5,945 active COVID-19 cases that are isolated and receiving treatment. 103 patients are in ICU and 31 of them require respiratory support.
Out of the 589 cases reported today, 3 are imported while 586 are transmitted locally. The imported cases include 2 individuals arriving from Indonesia and 1 arriving from Ukraine.
In terms of local cases, Sabah has the most at 304, followed by Selangor with 150 cases, Perak with 52 cases and Kedah with 31 cases. There are 16 cases in Penang, 11 in Negeri Sembilan, 10 in Kuala Lumpur, 6 in Labuan, 4 in Sarawak, 2 cases each in Melaka and Kelantan and 1 in Putrajaya.
The Ministry of Health has identified 4 new clusters today which include Olive cluster in Sabah, Bah Pasir cluster which covers Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya, Bah Pengkalan in Perak and Saguking cluster in Labuan.
The Utama cluster which covers Selangor and Melaka has recorded 105 new cases which brings the total number of cases for the cluster to 132. According to Health D-G Dr Noor Hisham, the index patient is a Nepalese security guard that’s based at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.
