Malaysia has recorded 561 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 15,657. Today marks the 2nd highest daily count after recording 691 cases on 6th October. There are 2 new deaths reported in Sabah today and the death toll is now 157.
The Ministry of Health has reported 133 new recoveries and a total of 10,913 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 69.70% while the mortality rate is 1.00%.
There are now 4,587 active COVID-19 cases in Malaysia which are receiving treatment. 90 are in ICU while 29 require respiratory support.
Out of the 561 new cases reported today, 8 are imported while 553 are transmitted locally. Sabah reported the most with 488 cases followed by Selangor with 26 cases, Kedah with 16 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 15 cases.
488 cases are reported from CMCO and TEMCO areas. There are 11 cases which involved individuals that have a recent traveled from Sabah.
The Ministry of Health has also identified 5 new clusters today which include 3 (Kasih, Surat, Khazanah) in Sabah, 1 (Bundle) in Labuan and 1 (Sungei Way) in the Klang Valley. The 5 new clusters collectively reported 46 new cases today.
In terms of existing clusters, there are 17 new cases from the Benteng cluster, 16 from Tembok cluster and 8 cases each in the Tujuh Serangkai and Tanamera clusters.
