Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali who had recently angered Malaysians for not complying with 14-day quarantine order has posted a message on Facebook to remind the public to take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously. He highlighted that COVID-19 isn’t a cheap political material and it must be tackled by all parties.
He added that all SOP including wearing a face mask and practicing social distancing must be adhered to at all times. On top of that, he said everyone should also comply with quarantine orders whether it is home quarantine or at designated quarantine centres assigned by the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Khairuddin also said that he pray for the pandemic to end soon and for the speedy recovery for those who are tested positive. He also urge everyone to help their friends and neighbours who are affected by the pandemic.
Dr. Khairuddin’s apparent exemption from mandatory quarantine was made known after Seputeh MP Teresa Kok pointed out that he attended Parliament just a week after his return from Turkey.
At the moment, there are no new action taken against the minister after he was slapped with a RM1,000 compound by the Ministry of Health in August. It was recently reported that the police has resubmitted their investigation papers to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further checks. Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had voiced out that no Malaysian is above the law and he will leave it to the relevant authorities to carry out their investigation and take appropriate action.
When the Minister came under fire, he revealed that he had tested negative for COVID-19 three times. He also said that the fact he was allowed to enter Istana Negara is proof that he has tested negative for COVID-19.
