Realme Buds Air Pro & Buds Wireless Pro: These are Realme’s first ANC headphones

Realme has announced two new headphone models: the Realme Buds Air Pro and the Realme Buds Wireless Pro. The company already has a varied range of headphones available—but now, the new models are equipped with a feature that users have long been asking for: Active Noise Cancellation.

Realme’s new headphones will be available in India from the 16th of October 2020, with pricing for the Realme Buds Air Pro priced at INR4,499 (~RM255), and the Realme Buds Wireless Pro having a cheaper price tag of INR2,999 (~RM170). Realme Buds Air Pro: What you need to know

The Realme Buds Air Pro is the company’s latest TWS headphones, following the Buds Air, Buds Air Neo, and the Buds Q. However, these are the first headphones from Realme to feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). ANC is one of the first things that we look for with new headphones, and this is a major plus for Realme.

Two microphones help cancel out sound levels of up to 35dB, while you can also switch to a Transparency Mode when you need to be aware of your surroundings. Meanwhile, Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) is also available, which should help to provide clearer sound for calls.

There’s also a Game mode that promises a latency of 94ms, with Bluetooth 5.0 offering multi-device connections. Realme promises that you’ll have enough thump for your gaming sessions, with each earbud using a 10mm Bass Boost Driver.

Battery life is rated at 25 hours of playback with ANC turned off, and if you have ANC enabled, this drops by five hours. For the earbuds, Realme promises up to five hours of playback on a single charge with ANC, and six hours with ANC turned off. A full charge takes up to two hours.

IPX4 rating means that this is not a pair of waterproof headphones, so be sure to keep that in mind. Still, this is the same level of ingress protection as the (significantly) more expensive AirPods Pro, so props to Realme for equipping the Buds Air Pro with some level of water resistance.

Realme Buds Wireless Pro: What you need to know

Meanwhile, the Buds Wireless Pro features the same form-factor as the Buds Wireless headphones from last year. As opposed to TWS, the earbuds on the Buds Wireless Pro are connected by a lanyard, which rests on your neck.

Again, we are seeing Active Noise Cancellation (up to 35dB), and the Buds Wireless Pro even supports the LDAC codec—which should come as good news to those of you who have a library of high bitrate music. Additionally, Game Mode is also supported here, although a latency of 119ms is certainly slower than the Buds Air Pro.

You can also seamlessly switch between paired devices via a multi-function button, while there is a transparency mode for you to use when you need to be aware of your environments. Realme also says that a 13.6mm Bass Boost driver will offer “deeper and booming” bass, while the S1 Chip under the hood should help to cancel out noise in real-time for calls via ENC.

Battery life is rated for 16 hours of playback with ANC turned on, and 22 hours with ANC turned off. You’ll be able to charge the headphones via USB-C fully in an hour and a half, too. Again, these are rated at IPX4, and you get support for Bluetooth 5.0.
