Netflix may no longer ask you if you’re “still watching” with this new feature

Sometimes when I really get into a show on Netflix, I don’t even realise that I’ve watched a few episodes at once. It’s only when Netflix asks me if i’m “still watching” that I realise that I’ve been sitting in the same position for 3 hours. The feature can be a good thing, but the company is testing out a new feature that lets you switch that off.

Usually, there would be pop-up that appears after you watch three episodes in a row of something—asking if you’re still watching. As much as it helps situations like falling asleep in front of the TV, or giving you a reason to stretch your legs before going back in to watch a show, it can spoil the mood a little bit.

However, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that they are testing out the feature to ask if you’re still watching or if you want to “play without asking again”. The test feature is only available in certain regions, but it’s already making waves on social media platforms like TikTok.

In the TikTok video above, user @deathtodaniel_ showed what the feature would look like. The same question will be asked (Are you still watching ____ ?), but this time you can choose more than a ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

The options include “Ask again later”, “Play without asking again” and “I’m done”. The “Play without asking again” option—however, isn’t that specific. Will Netflix ask the same thing if I’m watching a different show?

Previously, Netflix launched its user interface (UI) in Bahasa Melayu. This feature lets you watch shows and movies with Bahasa Melayu subtitles and dubs.
