COVID-19: 432 new cases today, new record high in Malaysia

Malaysia has reported 432 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 12,813. This is the highest number of new cases reported in a single day beating the previous record of 317 cases on 3rd October. There are no new deaths today and the death toll remains at 137.

The Ministry of reported 57 new recoveries and a total of 10,340 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 80.7% while the mortality rate is 1.07%.

COVID-19 Malaysia

There are now 2,336 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 32 are in ICU while 8 require respiratory support.

Out of the 432 new cases today, 3 are imported while 429 are transmitted locally. The imported cases include 2 Malaysians returning from Kuwait and India respectively and one foreigner arriving from Myanmar. In terms of local cases, Kedah recorded the most with 241 new cases, followed by 130 cases in Sabah and 34 cases in Selangor.

The Tembok cluster has recorded a staggering 224 new cases, followed by Bangau-bangau cluster with 39 cases. The Ministry has identified 3 new clusters which include Bah Sintok and Jeram in Kedah and Bah Tanjung in Terengganu.

According to the Ministry, there are 29 cases today that has a recent travel history to Sabah. This brings the total number of cases with a travel history to the Northern Borneo state to 235 since 20th September 2020.
