Malaysia has recorded 287 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of cases to 11,771. There are no new deaths today and the death toll remains at 136.
The Ministry of Health has reported 81 new recoveries and a total of 10,095 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 85.76% while the mortality rate is 1.16%.
There are currently 1,540 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are currently receiving treatment. 22 patients are in ICU while 4 require respiratory support.
All 287 cases today are transmitted locally and there are no import cases. According to the Ministry, Kedah has the most cases with 129, followed by Sabah with 113 cases. Selangor has 31 cases, while Perak and Terengganu reported 3 cases respectively.
There are 20 new cases reported today that has a recent travel history to Sabah. Since 20th September, there are a total of 139 positive cases reported among individuals that have returned from Sabah.
There are 2 new clusters in Selangor which include Seri Anggerik (Hulu Selangor) with a total of 14 cases and Seri Setia (Gombak) with a total of 4 cases. The index patient for both clusters have a recent travel history to Sabah.
The Tembok cluster in Kedah has a staggering 129 new cases, followed by Benteng cluster in Sabah with 35 new cases. Meanwhile, the Bangau-bangau cluster has reported 15 new cases.
Today marks the highest daily number of cases and the previous record high was on the 4th of June with 277 cases reported. Yesterday, there were 260 cases, which is an early indication of a new wave.
