Boost eWallet now lets you Setel petrol payments at Petronas

Boost has announced that it has integrated Setel into its eWallet app. This will allow Boost users to enjoy seamless and frictionless payments at Setel-enabled Petronas petrol stations nationwide.

Setel is a petrol payment app by Petronas and it’s also an eWallet on its own with a maximum size of RM500. According to Boost CEO Mohd Khairil Abdullah, the eWallet interoperability aims at building a robust cashless ecosystem for a digital forward society.

On the current Setel app, users can earn Mesra points for each transaction which can be used to redeem credits for future petrol purchases. With this integration, Boost users can earn both Boost coins as well as Mesra points for each transaction made at Petronas stations.

To launch Setel via Boost, just go to the “Do More” tab on the Boost app and go to Transport > Setel. If it’s your first time, you are required to verify your mobile number via OTP and this also works for existing Setel customers.

Once that’s done, just drive to your nearest Petronas station with Setel, and select the pump number where you’re parked. With Setel, you can complete the payment in the car and there’s no need to queue up at the counter or punch in additional pin codes at the pump.

As an introductory offer, Boost and Setel are offering 10% cashback from 1st October until 31st December 2020. The petrol cashback is capped at RM5 with a minimum spend of RM30 and it is applicable to the 200,000 newly registered Setel users that make their first transaction via Boost.

According to the official press release, the cashback will be credited into the Setel Partner Wallet in the user’s Boost account within 7 days. The cashback in the Wallet will be utilised with a minimum spend of RM20 with Boost during the next visit at a participating Petronas station.

In case you missed it, Setel has recently introduced CardTerus where you can pay for petrol directly from your assigned credit cards. The feature bypasses the eWallet and you can get 10% cashback for participating credit cards.
