Blackpink fans, listen to “Lovesick Girls” while waiting for PUBG Mobile matches

PUBG Mobile has been phenomenon over the past couple of years or so, and literally everyone I know has had a shot at the popular battle royale title—particularly on mobile platforms. K-pop group Blackpink has enjoyed similar global success, of course, with their first full album, “The Album”, releasing today.

So, what if you wanted to listen to some of Blackpink’s new tracks while waiting for matches on PUBG Mobile? Well, you can—but just one song from the new album. From now until the 2nd of November 2020, “Lovesick Girls” from Blackpink will be available to play while you searching for matches in the Game Lobby.

This replaces the old(er) Blackpink track, “How You Like That”, that was previously available to gamers in the PUBG Mobile lobby. Additionally, from the 2nd of October until the 8th of October, the New Erangel map will feature billboards that pay tribute to the PUBGx Blackpink collaboation.

In fact, the airdrop plane (you know, the one that everyone gets into at the start of each match) will be decked out in pink and the Blackpink logo—this will be available for one month from the 2nd of October 2020. Airdrops will also come in colour themes and icons that are inspired by “The Album”, and pink smoke will be released in battlefields as well.

Besides the in-game visual content, the lobby playback addition doesn’t actually seem to be anything more than a marketing gimmick. For one, you can always play the track via Spotify, YouTube, or other streaming services, and playback immediately stops once you’ve entered into a match. Still, with a huge global presence around the world, Blackpink and PUBG Mobile’s collaboation might appeal to some fans.
