Confirmed: The OnePlus 8T is “coming soon”

OnePlus look like they’re flooding the market with new smartphones, don’t they? The OnePlus 8 series was launched earlier this year, followed by the mid-range OnePlus Nord a couple of months later. Now, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 8T 5G is “coming soon” via the OnePlus India Twitter account, with a dedicated page set up as well.

A concrete date hasn’t been given yet, although a launch is expected sometime in October 2020. If you’re impatient, however, the page also has a “notify me” button, where you’ll also have a chance to win “exclusive prizes”—including an actual OnePlus 8T 5G.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen OnePlus ramp up the hype for an upcoming launch. For the OnePlus Nord, the company repeatedly leaked information through unorthodox means: morse code on a dedicated Instagram page, pre-release giveaways, and so on.

Additionally, the company has also released a teaser starring Iron Man—I mean, Tony Stark—wait, Robert Downing Jr. Downing, who has been an ambassador for the brand for awhile now, tells viewers:

“Life moves fast. You need a phone that moves faster.”

Unfortunately, concrete details on the upcoming flagship OnePlus are scarce at the time of writing. Judging by Downing’s “fast”-focused ad, the OnePlus 8T 5G series will feature a flagship Snapdragon chip—possibly the Snapdragon 865 Plus. based on leaked renders from noted leakster OnLeaks, we’re also set to see a new camera bump that looks a lot like Samsung’s Note 20 series:

Additionally, Android Authority reports that the OnePlus 8T 5G will sport the same 6.55″ display from the OnePlus 8—and at a 120Hz refresh rate. Charging speeds are also expected to be improved to a crazy 65W, and we’ll probably see a quad camera setup made up of a 48MP 16MP + 5MP + 2MP configuration.

For now, we’ll have to wait. If you’re keen, head over to the OnePlus 8T 5G page to stay up to date on more release details.
