Waze finally rolls out Lane Guidance to help navigate confusing intersections

Waze has officially announced its lane guidance feature which will guide drivers better at confusing intersections. The feature is highly sought after and it was already implemented on Google Maps several years ago.

The lane guidance feature was rolled out as a beta back in April and it was spotted at some intersections in Malaysia in the past few weeks. It is surprising that it took this long for Waze to introduce the feature considering that the company is owned by Google.

In situations where there are multiple exits or lanes, the lane guidance feature will highlight the correct lane at the top of the screen. This would benefit lots of drivers including those who are from out of town so that you won’t have the make that embarrassing last-minute lane change.

Other than the lane guidance feature, Waze is also rolling out trip suggestions which provides recommendations based on your previous trip history. When you launch the app, it will show a list of possible places that you might want to go and displays the estimated travel time. From here, users can decide to postpone their journey to avoid congested hours for a shorter travelling time. The feature also reduces the need to key in the name of the destination manually so that you can stay focused on the road.

Waze is also making carpooling easier with Real Time Rides and Instant Book with auto approval. This would allow users to share a ride with other users that are heading to the same direction. Not only it saves time but also helps to reduce the number of cars on the road.

Have you used Waze’s lane guidance feature in Malaysia? Let us know your experience in the comments below.
