Malaysia has recorded 31 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of cases to 9,946. Fortunately, there are no new death reported and the death toll remains at 128.
The Ministry of Health has reported 7 new recoveries and 9,204 individuals have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is 92.53% while the mortality rate is 1.29%.
There are currently 615 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are currently receiving treatment. 11 patients are in ICU with 5 requiring respiratory support.
Out of the 31 cases today, there are 3 imported and 28 local transmissions. The imported cases consist of 3 individuals arriving from Indonesia.
In terms of local cases, there are 23 cases in Sabah, 4 in Negeri Sembilan and 1 in Kedah. The Benteng cluster has 17 new cases, while the remaining local cases in Sabah were detected through various screenings including severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) screening, pre-surgery screening as well as screening among senior citizens.
The new cases in Negeri Sembilan are from the Bunga cluster while the sole new case in Kedah is from the Sungai cluster. Sabah reported 25 cases today, which is the highest among all states which include 2 imported and 23 local cases.
The Benteng cluster now has 420 COVID-19 positive cases while the Sungai Cluster in Kedah has 58 positive cases. Meanwhile, the Bunga cluster has accumulated a total of 10 positive cases.
