Poco X3 with Snapdragon 732G is launching next week, coming soon to Malaysia

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco is launching a new smartphone next week which claims to be “exactly what you need”. The new device is called the Poco X3 NFC which appears to be the successor to the Poco X2.

The Poco X3 global launch event is taking place on the 7th September 2020 and it will be streamed live at 8pm Malaysian Time. You can watch it on the official Poco Facebook page.

From what we know so far, the X3 is a mid-range smartphone and it’s the first to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 732G processor. This appears to be an upgraded 8nm Snapdragon 730G chip as it shares a similar Kryo 470 CPU cores that run at a higher clock speed up to 2.3GHz. It also uses the same Adreno 618 GPU which is upgraded with 15% faster performance. With this chipset, we can confirm that 5G is not supported.

As revealed by Poco global spokesperson Angus Kai, the Poco X3 will feature a 64MP main camera. As spotted in the image below, it seems that the X3 will get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor which could be a sign that the screen isn’t OLED. If you boost the brightness, you will notice a single punch-hole selfie camera that’s aligned on the top centre of the screen.

The product name seems to imply that Poco might introduce an X3 model with NFC and another without. It is unusual to have NFC included in the product name since Poco and Xiaomi usually adds “Pro” to the name to indicate a higher-spec model.

Angus has also teased that X3 will support fast charging that’s capable of pushing 100% charge from zero in just 65 minutes. There’s no mention of the actual charging output but it the phone has been rumoured to come with a large 5,160mAh battery.

In terms of design, it appears to get a circular camera bump design but the quad-cameras could be arranged in a different layout. So far Poco has yet to release a mid-range smartphone for the Malaysian market.

The Poco X2 which is essentially a rebadged Redmi K30 was released in India in February this year. Just recently, they have also unveiled the Poco M2 Pro which is essentially a rebadged Redmi Note 9S with faster charging.

From what we’re told, the Poco X3 NFC is definitely coming to Malaysia with the local pricing and availability to be announced soon. Stay tuned until next Monday to find out more.
