Malaysia has recorded 14 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,354. Unfortunately, there’s another new death reported in 3 straight days and the death toll is now 128.
Today’s fatality is a 80-year-old woman in Penang which has a history of lung cancer and high blood pressure. This is the second death from the Tawar cluster.
The Ministry of Health has reported 21 new recoveries and a total of 9,075 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 97.02% while the mortality rate is 1.37%.
There are currently 151 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 5 patients are in ICU with 3 requiring respiratory support.
Out of the 14 new cases today, 5 are imported while the remaining 9 are transmitted locally. The imported cases are foreigners that consists of 2 individuals from the Philippines and one each from Ukraine, Indonesia and Pakistan.
In terms of local cases, 7 are reported in Sabah which consists of 4 foreigners and 3 Malaysians. Meanwhile, there are 2 new cases reported in Kedah from the Tawar and Telaga cluster. A new Benteng cluster has been identified in Sabah.
