Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro spotted with Snapdragon 865+ and 108MP camera

It appears that Xiaomi is working on a new Mi 10T series of smartphones which is seen as a mid-year refresh for its flagship line up. Photos of a purported Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro have surfaced online and the speculated hardware specs do look promising.

In terms of design, the new Mi 10T Pro features a rectangular camera bump which looks heavily inspired by the Vivo X50. The main camera has a larger lens module and it appears to be rocking a high-resolution 108MP sensor. However, there’s also a possibility that Xiaomi might settle for a lower resolution 64MP sensor for the standard Mi 10T model.

The device which carries the model number M2007J3SG was spotted on Geekbench and it appears to be running on a Snapdragon 865+ with 8GB of RAM, at least for the Pro variant. Instead of having a pop-up camera like the Poco F2 Pro and the Mi 9T Pro, the Mi 10T uses a punch-hole camera on the top left corner.

Other rumoured specs include a huge 5,000mAh battery and a insane 144Hz refresh rate display. From the purported leaked press image, the device appears to be using a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Typically this could be a sign that the phone may not come with an AMOLED screen as most phone makers would opt for an in-display fingerprint sensor. But looking at the new ZenFone 7, this might be a deliberate move as a side-mounted fingerprint sensor is perceived to be more reliable.

So far there are no launch details yet but we are guessing that it could be cheaper than the current Mi 10 series which is officially priced from RM2,799. The previous Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro were based on the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro series from China. For this year, things are very different since the Redmi K30 was rebadged as the Poco X2.

The new Mi 10T appears to be a completely new device that isn’t rebadged from an existing Xiaomi model. To keep the price low, we are guessing that the Mi 10T standard version could come with an upper mid-range Snapdragon 765G processor.

If the Mi 10T Pro is priced under RM2,000, it could potentially cannibalise sales of the Poco F2 Pro. Lately, there have been a lot of deals for the Poco F2 Pro and the lowest we’ve seen is RM1,519 for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. What do you think of the Mi 10T Pro?
