Since their Japanese launch in June, I’ve been waiting for Uniqlo to launch the Airism face masks here in Malaysia. Now, they will officially launch them in Malaysian stores on 14 September.
If you aren’t familiar with the Airism line at Uniqlo, it is their innerwear that’s meant to keep you “dry and comfortable all day long”. The collection is appealing here in Malaysia because our hot and humid weather all-year-round.
The Airism masks employs a triple-layer structure, which is considered safer than other conventional cloth masks. The center of the mask employs a filter which delivers a bacterial filtration efficiency of 99%. There will also be mesh fabric sandwiching the filter.
The inner layer of the masks are made of the Airism material, and according to Uniqlo, they are “more comfortable than non-woven or cotton masks”. They are also washable, and their structure retains its efficacy after 20 washes at 40 degrees. One of the three layers will also include a UV Cut layer, which cuts 90% of ultraviolet rays.
However, these masks are not meant for medical use, and does not completely prevent against infiltration. You should also avoid wearing the mask during strenuous exercise or in the hot sun.
The masks come in three sizes—small (18cm x 12cm), medium (22cm x 14cm) and large (23cm x 14.5cm). The price for each pack, which comes with 3 masks, is RM39.90.
The price for the masks aren’t bad at all, considering the prices of other masks like the ones from Greenroom136.
