COVID-19: Malaysia records 10 new cases today, 8 are imported

Malaysia has reported 10 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,267. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125 for 23 straight days.

The Ministry of Health has reported 10 new recoveries and a total of 8,959 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.68% while the mortality rate is at 1.35%.

COVID-19 Malaysia

There are currently 183 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. The number of patients in ICU has increased to 9 and 4 of them require respiratory support.

Out of the 10 new cases, 2 are transmitted locally involving Malaysians while 8 are imported which consists of 5 foreigners and 3 Malaysians. The imported cases include 3 from Japan (Alam cluster), 3 individuals arriving from Indonesia and 1 individual each from Mexico and Maldives

The two new local cases are reported in Kedah from the Tawar cluster which now has a total of 65 positive cases with 7 in ICU. A total of 3,286 individuals from the cluster have been tested and 342 are still waiting for results.

As of 12pm today, Kuala Muda has the highest number of cases in the past 14 days with 22 cases, followed by Kulim with 17 cases and Baling with 15 cases. The states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang are fully green. Melaka, Sarawak and Kangar have a single case in the respective states.
