COVID-19: 9 new cases today, new Maju cluster identified in KL

Malaysia reports 9 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of cases to 9,249. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125.

The Ministry of Health has reported 13 new recoveries today and a total of 8,945 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.71% while the mortality rate is 1.35%.

There are currently 179 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 7 patients are in ICU and four of them require respiratory support.

Out of the 9 cases reported today, 5 are transmitted locally while 4 are imported. The imported cases are all foreigners that have arrived from the Philippines, Australia, India and Indonesia.

In terms of local cases, there’s one new case in Sarawak involving a foreigner that was detected during a pre-departure screening. There are 3 new cases in Kedah from the Tawar cluster and one new case from a newly identified Maju cluster in Kuala Lumpur.

The Tawar cluster has accumulated a total of 58 positive cases while the Maju cluster has a total of 3 positive cases.
