Apple announced that their flagship global radio station, Beat 1, will be renamed Apple Music 1. They are also adding two additional radio stations—including Apple Music Hits, and Apple Music Country.

“For the past five years, if ever there was a meaningful moment in music culture, Beats 1 was there bringing human curation to the forefront and drawing in listeners with exclusive shows from some of the most innovative, respected, and beloved people in music. Now, Apple Music radio provides an unparalleled global platform for artists across all genres to talk about, create, and share music with their fans, and this is just the beginning,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music, Beats, and International Content.

Beats 1 was introduced in 2015, and Apple Music users all over the world in 165 countries were able to listen to it on their app for free. Even after the renaming of the online radio station, Apple Music 1 continues to play pop music and is a platform for artists to release new music, break news, and speak directly to fans.

Apple Music 1 also features several shows dedicated to celebrating the vibrancy of Latin music around the world, including a new show from J Balvin. Besides latin music, there is a show on the same station called “Africa Now Radio with Cuppy”, which showcases the very best local African music and artists.

Along with that rebranding, Apple Music is also introducing Apple Music Hits, which offers a full catalog of songs fans know and love from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Fans can also tune in to hear new exclusive shows from artists like Backstreet Boys, Ciara, Mark Hoppus, Snoop Dogg, Meghan Trainor, Shania Twain, and more.

For country music fans, Apple Music Country is also introduced. The station offers a mix of the best country music of today and yesterday, while “introducing fans to the stars of tomorrow”.

“We will continue to invest in live radio and create opportunities for listeners around the world to connect with the music they love,” continued Schusser.

You can listen to Apple Music radio through the Apple Music app (iOS, Android), and also on the web at music.apple.com. You can also ask Siri to play “Apple Music 1,” “Apple Music Hits,” or “Apple Music Country.”
