The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a renewed, if not increased dependence on digital platforms. This has been reflected in figures that show a 35 percent growth in YouTube watch time in Malaysia over the past year or so, according to Google Malaysia. As such, YouTube is partnering up with Astro, Media Prima, Muse, and WebTVAsia for Super Stream Malaysia to provide free-to-view premium content to help Malaysians celebrate the upcoming Merdeka day and Malaysia day from the comfort of home.

From now till the 16th of September 2020, Super Stream Malaysia will offer Malaysians free access to premium video content, including dramas, anime, movies, and others. The content will be streamed via the official Google Malaysia YouTube channel, along with partners’ channels (full list below). Do note that not all of the programmes under Super Stream Malaysia will be available on-demand (like Netflix or Amazon Prime).

Instead, much of the content will be livestreamed on YouTube, with Muse Malaysia getting the ball rolling with its range of anime content. Brand new episodes of One Punch Man and The God of High School will be available with BM subtitles from the 15th of August till the 1st of September. Following that, catch the latest dramas from Media Prima as part of a 24-hour live stream 17–23 August, or catch up on episodes of Senario from 26 August–1 September.

Another highlight will be the 72-hour Merdeka movie marathon from WebTVAsia from the 29th of August till till the 31st; along with local productions such as Lee Chong Wei The Movie and Nasi Lemak 2.0 from the 31st of August till the 16th of September. From the 1st till the 4th of September, Astro Gempak will be streaming 115 hours of local dramas, too.

As mentioned, Super Stream Malaysia will only be available until the 16th of September 2020, and access will only be available to users from Malaysia. If you’re keen, you can head over to Google Malaysia’s official YouTube channel, or the following partner channels:

– Muse Malaysia
– Drama Sangat
– TV9 Malaysia
– WebTVAsia
– Astro Gempak
