Star Wars fans, Adidas Malaysia is releasing limited edition sneakers on Lazada soon

When Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back premiered back in 1980, I remember… well, I wasn’t actually born yet. However, the undoubted success of the iconic movie franchise means that brands often partner up to offer unique, themed accessories. Adidas isn’t a stranger to the concept, having previously released variations of their famous sneaker lines—including the NMD—that pay tribute to George Lucas’ universe.

Adidas Malaysia has just announced that six limited edition sneaker designs will be released on the 14th of August 2020 as part of the Adidas Super Brand Day on Lazada. The release of Adidas’ latest Star Wars tributes will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the second (chronologically, fifth) instalment of the franchise: The Empire Strikes Back.

All six limited editions will be released, although the stormtrooper-inspired NMD R1 and C3PO-inspired Top Ten Hi will be exclusive to the Adidas LazMall Flagship store.

Pricing is as follows:

NMD R1 – RM650
Top Ten Hi – RM480
Superstar – RM550
Superstar (Kids) – RM420
UltraBOOST DNA x Star Wars – RM730
UltraBOOST DNA x Star Wars (White) – RM730

Additionally, the Adidas Super Brand Day on Lazada will also arrive with a bunch of deals on various Adidas products. Limited edition Star Wars sneakers will be given away to lucky winners on the LazLive livestream, along with 12% discount vouchers. The livestream will be at 8pm, on the 13th of August 2020 on the LazLive channel.

The Brand Day will also feature other promotions and deals, including 50% off when you purchase three regular-priced Adidas items on the Adidas LazMall Flagship Store, and free shipping for purchases made on the 13th of August 2020.

So, what do you think? Personally, I’m a fan of the UltraBOOST DNA x Star Wars. Besides the subtle tribute to Princess Leia on the tongue of the shoes, I’ve also found shoes in Adidas’ UltraBOOST series to be great for running, or even general wear. However, if you’re looking for something that edges towards the dark side, the black Superstars have a (scary-looking) imprint of Darth Vader’s face imprinted on the toe cap of the sneakers.
