Malaysia has reported 11 new cases today which brings the total number of COVID-19 infections to 9,094. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125.
The Ministry of Health has also reported 19 new recoveries and a total of 8,803 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.80% while the mortality rate is at 1.37%.
At the moment, there are 166 active cases remaining that are still receiving treatment. There’s only 1 patient in ICU which doesn’t require respiratory support.
From the 11 cases reported today, 5 are imported and 6 are transmitted locally. The imported cases are all Malaysians with 3 returning from Australia and one each returning from Japan and Singapore.
In terms of local cases, there’s one foreigner that’s found positive in Selangor and 3 Malaysians were found positive from the recently identified Kurau cluster in Perak. There’s one case each involving Malaysians in Melaka and Johor which are detected during hospital screening. There are no new cases from the Sivagangga cluster.
According to the Health Director General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the number of infections among family members from both Sivagangga and Kurau clusters have increased after Hari Raya Aidiladha. He said although home visits are allowed, preventive measures such as wearing face masks are still necessary.
