Samsung Galaxy Buds Live has ANC and longer battery life than AirPods Pro

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is launching together with the Galaxy Buds Live wireless earbuds which comes in a peculiar design. The new TWS is expected to offer noise cancelling capabilities to rival the Apple AirPods Pro. Prolific leakster Roland Quant has just spilled the beans on its purported specs including the battery life.

Confirming the earlier leak by Evan Blass, the new Buds Live will be available in 3 colours – Mystic Black, Mystic Bronze and Mystic White. The earbuds will feature 12mm sound drivers and are tuned by AKG. Each bud weighs 5.6 grams which is similar to the 1st generation Galaxy Buds.

There are 2 internal mics and 1 internal mics which is similar to the current Galaxy Buds+ but this time, it would feature integrated Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). According to Roland, there’s also an “Always on Mic” (AOM) feature which allows it to detect Bixby voice commands at all times.

In terms of battery life, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live is said to push up to 7.5 hours on a single charge but that’s with all the extra options turned off. With ANC enabled, the battery life drops to 5.5 hours for music and 4.5 hours for voice calls. With the bundled charging case, users can get up to 28 hours of total listening time or up to 20 hours with ANC turned on.

If we compare that to the AirPods Pro, Apple’s ANC earbuds are rated to last up to 4.5 hours of music playback with ANC enabled or up to 5 hours with ANC and transparency mode turned off. With the case, Apple boasts over 24 hours of listening time. Meanwhile, the current Galaxy Buds+ is rated to last up to 11 hours on a single charge and a total of 22 hours of listening time with the case.

Samsung is still supporting Qi wireless charging for the case and you can also charge it via USB-C. The earbuds can be quick-charged in the case and you could get 35-minutes of usage in just 3 minutes.

The bean-shaped earbuds still support touch controls to answer calls and to manage your music playback. Interestingly, it is said that the Buds Live will come with rubber attachments which helps to ensure a secure fit. This could also help to improve the effectiveness of noise cancellation.

According to Roland, the Buds Live is priced at USD 169 in the US which is about RM720. As a comparison, the current Galaxy Buds+ is going for USD 149.99 (about RM639) in the US while in Malaysia, it is priced at RM599. If we have to guess, the new ANC earbuds could be priced at RM699 when it launches in Malaysia.

Another leakster Ishan Agarwal has just revealed some short clips on how to use the Galaxy Buds Live which he has obtained from an APK file. As shown below, the bean-shaped TWS supports single, double and triple-tap as well as touch and hold gestures.
