HONOR Magic Earbuds: Truly wireless ANC headphones don’t have to be expensive

This post is brought to you by HONOR Malaysia.

At this point, headphones have pretty much evolved into a necessity. The ever connected, overcrowded world around us has rendered personal space scarce, but with the right pair of headphones you can have that personal space all to yourself. And HONOR wants to help you create that with their brand new HONOR Magic Earbuds.

As its name would suggest, the HONOR Magic Earbuds are built with a little bit of magic called Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Of course, ANC isn’t particularly new technology, but it is technology that has been exclusive to headphones in the upper echelons of the market. Those thousand-plus ringgit headphones that frankly only a fraction can afford to splurge on. With the Magic Earbuds though, HONOR is looking to democratise this technology because these new truly wireless headphones are priced at just RM499.

How has HONOR done this? Well, it wasn’t easy, but the gist of it is that the Magic Earbuds utilise a special hybrid feedforward-feedback dual-mic ANC technology that can achieve an average noise cancelling effect of up to 32dB. These microphones work together where the feedforward microphone cancels ambient noise while the feedback mic further reduces unwanted noise inside your ears.

With these working in tandem, you’ll be able to properly enjoy your music with the deep, robust bass and bright, crisp trebles produced by the headphones’ 10mm dynamic driver unit. Enjoy the luxury of this created personal space and lose yourself in your music.

On top of that, this noise cancelling technology doesn’t just apply to music playback, the HONOR Magic Earbuds also have dedicated triple-microphone noise cancellation for clearer audio pickup when you’re in a call. Each earbud features three Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) silicone microphones that HONOR says will effectively reduce background noise.

The integrated dual external microphones will simultaneously pick up your voice and block out background noise to ensure clear calls no matter the circumstances. Sounds almost as impressive as you will during a call.

That being said, sound quality and noise cancellation is only part of the equation because HONOR wants to take your music listening experience one step further. The HONOR Magic Earbuds also have a big focus on comfort. After all, it’s so much easier to enjoy the music when you don’t have to think about the pair of headphones in your ears.

Naturally, with the truly wireless nature of these headphones, you won’t be bogged down by any cables or wires, nor will you have to worry about whether your device has a headphone jack. HONOR also designed the Magic Earbuds with an ergonomic trapezoidal design which will comfortably stay in your ears even when you’re on the go.

Finally, nobody really wants to faff about with cumbersome setup processes, so HONOR’s carved that aspect out of the setup equation. With the Magic Earbuds, it will automatically detect and effortlessly pair with your smartphone if it’s running on EMUI 10.0 or newer, the moment you open up the charging case. This makes it a perfect companion for your HONOR device, be it one of their smartphones or the brand-new HONOR MagicBook 14.

In line with HONOR’s 1+8+N IoT strategy, the new HONOR MagicBook 14 is designed to work with and expand upon the connectivity of the other products in the HONOR ecosystem. It is designed to be the perfect solution for young people on-the-go as well as a great too for sustained productivity and creativity wherever you are.

As a result, the HONOR MagicBook 14 features an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics to help you chew through tasks and even clock in some light gaming while you’re at it. This device also promises up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge, with support for 65W fast-charging. Through the USB-C cable, you’ll be able to charge the HONOR MagicBook 14 up to 46% in just 30 minutes.

Since it’s built to be an on-the-go device, the 14” laptop is also lightweight, weighing just 1.38kg to provide you good portability. There are also other quality of life features including a Fingerprint log-in system, as well as HONOR Magic-Link 2.0 for cross-device multitasking and multi-screen collaboration.

The HONOR MagicBook 14 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage is priced at RM2,999 and will be available in Space Gray at Hihonor.com, Lazada and Shopee on the 24th of July 2020. Alternatively, you can also pre-order it at HONOR Experience Stores, Senheng and SenQ from the 24th to 30th of July 2020. Purchases will come with a free HONOR Magic Watch (while stocks last), HONOR Backpack and HONOR Bluetooth Mouse.

If you want a more affordable variant, you can also get a MagicBook 14 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage for RM2,499 on Shopee, Lazada and at all HONOR Experience Stores.
