COVID-19: Malaysia records 15 new cases today, new Sentosa cluster identified in Sarawak

Malaysia has reported 15 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of cases to 8,815. There are no new deaths today and the death toll remains at 123.

The Ministry of Health has reported 7 new recoveries and a total of 8,562 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 97.13% and the mortality rate is at 1.40%.

As of today, there are 130 active cases remaining which are currently isolated and receiving treatment. 4 cases are in ICU and there’s one patient that requires respiratory support.

Out of the 15 new cases reported today, 4 are imported and 11 are transmitted locally. The 4 imported cases consist of 3 Malaysians returning from the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands respectively, and 1 foreigner arriving from Indonesia.

The 11 local infections include 9 cases in Sarawak which consists of 8 Malaysians and 1 foreigner. There’s also one case each in Selangor and Sabah, and both are Malaysians.

The Ministry of Health has identified a new Sentosa cluster at a hospital in Kuching. A total of 61 individuals have been screened from the cluster and there are 5 positive cases detected while the remaining 56 have tested negative.
