After introducing the new MagicBook 14 a couple of weeks ago, Honor Malaysia has just announced a higher spec model that comes with double the RAM and double the storage. The device will be available for preorder this week and it comes with freebies worth RM817.
Pricing and availability
Below is the official pricing of the Honor MagicBook 14 range in Malaysia:
8GB RAM + 256GB SSD (Mystic Silver) – RM2,499
16GB RAM + 512GB SSD (Space Grey) – RM2,999
Do note that the higher-spec MagicBook 14 comes only in Space Grey and it costs RM500 more than the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option.
If you’re interested, you can purchase it from HiHonor.com on the 24th of July or pre-order at your nearest Honor Experience Stores from the 24th to 30th July 2020. Buyers will get an Honor Magic Watch, Honor Backpack and an Honor Bluetooth mouse for free.
Hardware Specs
The rest of the specs remain unchanged. It comes with 14″ Full HD screen and runs on an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with Vega 8 graphics. It uses DDR4 dual-channel RAM and PCIe SSD for storage. The laptop comes with a power button with a built-in fingerprint sensor and there’s also a hidden 1MP pop-up webcam that sits between the function keys on the keyboard.
On a single charge, it is rated to provide up to 10 hours of usage and it supports 65W fast charging via USB-C. According to Honor, you can get 46% charge in just 30 minutes. Out of the box, it runs on Microsoft Windows 10 Home. Overall it weighs 1.38kg and has a thickness of 15.9mm.
If you’re looking for a laptop with a better screen, there’s the Huawei MateBook 13 2020 that also comes with a similar Ryzen 5 3500U processor along with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. The MateBook 13 gets a 2K display featuring a 2160×1440 resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio and 100% sRGB colour gamut. The Huawei MateBook 13 2020 with Ryzen 5 is officially priced at RM3,499. It’s also slightly lighter at 1.31kg and thinner at 14.9mm.
