Deal: Book a domestic AirAsia flight and get 50% off for the returning fare

In response to stronger air travel demand, AirAsia has announced a new promo where passengers can get 50% off for the returning fare when they book a return trip. This promo is running for five days only and it is applicable to all domestic flights within Malaysia.

The 50% off promo is available for bookings made between 20th to 24th July 2020 for the travel period between 4th August to 6th December 2020. Customers can book online at AirAsia.com or via the mobile app available on Apple AppstoreGoogle PlayStore and Huawei AppGallery.

Take note that the 50% off is only for the 2nd flight when you fly back from the destination. This means you’ll have to pay the full price for the first flight and the discount is only on the returning fare excluding the taxes and other charges.

When we try to search for flights, a return trip from Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu in mid-September costs RM337.45 all-in excluding additional add-ons such as luggage, meals and seat selection. Meanwhile, a return trip from Kuala Lumpur to Miri in mid-August costs RM297.45 all-in without the extras.

According to AirAsia Head of Commercial, Amanda Woo, flight searches on their website have increased by more than 150% since Malaysia entered the RMCO phase. The low-cost carrier has scheduled 30% more flights in August compared to July, and they now have more than 600 weekly flights across 16 destinations within Malaysia. She shared that 70% of these flights are between West and East Malaysia, and the popular destinations are Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Tawau.

To save more, travellers are advised to use AirAsia Snap where you can get additional savings when you book your flight + hotel combo. According to AirAsia, a 3 days, 2 nights hotel stay with flights from Kuala Lumpur to Penang costs from as low as RM249 per person.

AirAsia continues to offer flexibility to passengers by offering flight date changes with no flight-change fee for those travelling up to 31st December 2020. Do note that the date change is subject to availability and you’ll have to pay the fare difference if applicable.

In case you missed it, AirAsia now allows its passengers to use the overhead storage bins. This means you can bring up to a two bags with up to 7kg in total as long as it is within the permitted dimensions. The overhead bins were previously not allowed to be utilised as a part of their safety measures to minimise contact.
