COVID-19: After two days of zero cases, Malaysia records 5 new local cases today

The number of daily new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia jumps to 13 today which brings the total number of infections to 8,696. There are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains at 121 for 26 days.

The Ministry of Health has reported 12 new recoveries and there are now 8,511 patients that have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 97.87% while the morality rate is 1.39%.

There are currently 64 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 2 cases are in ICU and both require respiratory support.

Out of the 13 new cases reported today, 8 are imported and 5 are transmitted locally. The 8 imported cases consists of 3 Malaysians and 1 foreigner returning from Indonesia, 1 permanent resident returning from Pakistan and 1 Malaysian each returning from India, the United Kingdom and Russia.

In terms of local cases there are 2 Malaysians in Sarawak, 2 Malaysians and 1 foreigner in Kuala Lumpur.
