Nokia Malaysia has an ultra-budget 4G phone with a removable battery

The Nokia C2 has arrived in Malaysia and this is HMD Global’s new budget smartphone that runs on Android Go. It still supports 4G and it also gets a removable battery which is pretty rare in 2020.

The C2 is officially priced at RM259 and it is available via Nokia’s newly appointed distributor Macpie Distribution. If you’re interested, you can place an order from their online store and it is only available in charcoal black.

The Nokia C2 features a 5.7″ IPS display that pushes a HD+ resolution in an 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a 1.4GHz Unisoc Quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB of storage which is expandable via microSD card.

For taking pictures, it has a single 5MP auto-focus main camera and 5MP front camera. it comes with a 2,800mAh battery and supports 5W charging via its microUSB port. Despite its low price, the C2 has its own dedicated Google Assistant button and it also has a built-in FM radio receiver which requires a headset to be connected. Despite being a 2020 device, it is weird that it still runs on Android 9 Pie.

At RM259, you could get better options like the Wiko Y61 which is priced at RM299. The Y61 is also an Android Go phone but it runs on a newer Android 10 and has 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage. Although the screen is bigger at 5.99″ but it pushes a lower resolution of 960×480 pixels.

If you can fork out a little bit more, the Redmi 9A at RM359 offers significantly better hardware for your money. It has a larger 6.53″ HD+ display, a MediaTek Helio G25 processor and a larger 5,000mAh battery.
