Huawei’s sub brand Honor will soon be making its Honor 30 Lite (also known as Youth) mid-range smartphone available for sale in China. Priced from CNY 1,699 (about RM1,031), the device boasts 5G connectivity thanks to its MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor. Apart from that, you also get a 48MP main camera and 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support.
Pricing and availability
The Honor 30 Lite will be sold in China from 8 July 2020 onwards and will be available online via Vmall. The device will come in three variants and below is the official price:
6GB RAM + 64GB Storage – CNY 1,699 (about RM1,031)
6GB RAM + 128GB Storage – CNY 1,899 (about RM1,152)
8GB RAM + 128GB Storage – CNY 2,199 (about RM1,334)
A total of four colours to choose from: Magic Night Black, Wizard of Oz, Summer Rainbow and Magic Mirror Silver.
Currently, there is no word when the Honor 30 Lite will be available internationally.
Hardware Specs
The Honor 30 Lite sports a 6.5” Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixel resolution) LCD that can show 16.7 million colours and boasts a 91.2% screen-to-body ratio. The display is also said to feature a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate that makes animations very smooth while being very responsive at the same time.
It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor, a 7nm chipset that features eight cores which consist of four Cortex-A76 and four A55 cores. For graphics, it uses a Mali-G57 MC4 GPU. You can get up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the Honor 30 Lite. The phone also supports Huawei’s NM memory cards though you will need to give up one of its SIM card slots if you use it.
Camera-wise, you get a triple camera array on the rear with a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, 8MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle camera and 2MP f/2.4 macro camera. According to Honor, the main camera is capable of recording up to 4K videos with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS).
For selfies, the phone has a 16MP front camera that sits inside a teardrop notch at the top edge. It comes with added features like the ability to snap selfies by waving your hands, smile detection or use voice commands. The Honor 30 Lite is also able to record Full HD videos. The camera can also double up to unlock your phone with your face. Alternatively, you can unlock your device with the side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Powering the Honor 30 Lite is a 4,000mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging via its USB-C port. Honor claims the device can charge back up to 53% charge within 30 minutes.
Connectivity-wise, you get Wi-Fi 5 and two SIM card slots. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack here. Out of the box, the Honor 30 Lite will run on Magic UI 3.1 which is based on Android 10.
