COVID-19: Malaysia records 3 imported and 2 local cases today

Malaysia continues to record 5 new cases today which brings the total number of COVID-19 infections to 8,668. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains at 121 for 22 days straight.

There are 11 new recoveries today and a total of 8,476 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 97.78% while the mortality rate is 1.4%.

There are currently 71 active cases remaining which are currently isolated and still receiving treatment. 2 patients are currently in ICU and both require respiratory support.

Out of the 5 cases today, 3 are imported while 2 are locally transmitted. The imported cases include 2 returning Malaysians from New Zealand and the United Kingdom respectively, and 1 non-Malaysian returning from Indonesia. The 2 local cases consist of 1 Malaysian in Selangor and 1 foreigner in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 810,057 individuals have been tested for COVID-19 so far and the positive rate is 1.07%. Malaysia has a maximum daily testing capacity of 37,004 from 56 labs nationwide. A total of 4,915 tests were conducted yesterday which is 13% of the total daily capacity.
