COVID-19: 5 new cases today, all are Malaysians

The Ministry of Health has reported 5 new COVID-19 cases today and this brings the total number of infections in Malaysia to 8,648. There are no new deaths recorded for 19 straight days and the death toll remains at 121.

There are 9 new recoveries today and a total of 8,446 patients have recovered and discharged so far. Malaysia’s recovery rate is currently 97.66% while the mortality rate is 1.4%.

At the moment, there are 81 active cases remaining which are still receiving treatment. 2 cases are currently in ICU and both require respiratory support.

All 5 new cases reported today are Malaysians. There are 3 imported cases involving returning Malaysians from Qatar, Turkey and Oman. Meanwhile, the two local transmissions are reported in Sabah. There are no new cases reported at active clusters in the country.
