Malaysia records 3 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of cases to 8,643. There are no new deaths recorded for 18 straight days and the death toll remains unchanged at 121.
The Ministry of Health has also recorded 62 new recoveries and there are now 8,437 patients that have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 97.62% while the mortality rate is 1.4%.
As of today, there are 85 active cases remaining which is less than 1% of the total number of infections recorded in the country. 2 patients are currently in ICU and both require respiratory support.
From the 3 cases today, 1 is imported and the remaining 2 are locally transmitted. The sole imported case is a Malaysian returning from Singapore. There are no Malaysians recorded among the new local cases today. The two local cases are foreigners with one from the Bukit Bintang cluster in Kuala Lumpur, while the other was screened at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The Ministry of Health reported that all three new cases today were not showing any symptoms.
In case you missed it, Malaysia recorded just one imported and zero local cases yesterday. This was a record low since the movement control order was imposed on 18th March 2020. The Ministry of Health is aiming for zero cases by the middle of this month. This would only be possible if everyone continues to comply with the SOP.
