Vivo X50 series with gimbal-like camera system is coming soon to Malaysia

Vivo has started teasing that its upcoming X50 series of smartphones are coming to Malaysia. Somewhat similar to the latest Huawei flagship series, the X50 comes in 3 models – the X50, X50 Pro and X50 Pro+. All three phones support 5G connectivity.

At the moment, Vivo has yet to provide additional details including the date of the local launch. Based on the teaser video below, it looks like we are definitely getting the X50 Pro that comes with an advanced stabilisation system.

The Vivo X50 series was announced in China earlier this month with the X50 and X50 Pro running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line X50 Pro+ model gets a flagship-class Snapdragon 865 processor.

The headlining feature is the X50 Pro’s quad-camera setup that comes with a 48MP Sony IMX598 sensor with a gimbal-like stabilisation system. According to Vivo, the system claims to be 200% more effective than a typical OIS setup. This helps users to capture moving shots with its anti-shake feature and it uses a special algorithm to track moving subjects while keeping them in focus.

Apart from the main camera, the X50 Pro also gets an 8MP periscope telephoto camera with 5X optical zoom, a 13MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter.

Interestingly, the more premium X50 Pro+ doesn’t feature the gimbal-camera system but it settles for a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor. The X50 Pro+ also gets a similar 8MP periscope telephoto camera, 13MP portrait camera and 8MP ultra-wide-angle combination.

We expect Vivo to launch the X50 series locally sometime in July and we hope to see all three models to come to Malaysia. You can learn more about the X50 series in our announcement post.
