Malaysia has recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections in Malaysia to 8,616. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains unchanged at 121 for 13 straight days.
There are 14 new recoveries today and a total of 8,308 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.43% while the mortality rate is now 1.40%.
There are currently 187 active cases remaining that are currently isolated and receiving treatment. 2 patients are in ICU and there are no cases that require respiratory support.
Out of the 10 new cases reported today, 4 are imported from outside Malaysia. This consists of 1 returning Malaysian and 1 permanent resident travelling from Cambodia, There’s also one foreigner each from Korea and Indonesia respectively.
There are 6 local cases today which consists of 2 foreigners and 4 Malaysians. The local infections involving foreigners are reported in Sabah and Negeri Sembilan, while cases involving Malaysians are reported in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
Although the number of new local daily cases remain in the single-digits, the Ministry of Health reminds everyone that the battle against COVID-19 is not over yet. The public is urged to adhere to the SOP to ensure that we can bring the number of new cases to zero by mid-July.
