After introducing the Redmi 9 budget smartphone priced from RM499, Xiaomi has also announced three new home ecosystem products for the Malaysian market. This includes the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop, the WiFi Range Extender Pro and the Ionic Hairdryer.
Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop
The Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop is officially priced at RM999 and it offers a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop function. Using a Nidec brushless motor, it boasts 2500Pa max suction power with four power modes. The device is 8.2cm tall and has a maximum height threshold of 20mm which allows it to move effortlessly across different floor surfaces.
Based on the spec-sheet from an online retailer, the device features a Visual Dynamic Navigation System that uses 15 multi-directional sensors to map the area more accurately and to avoid obstacles. The robot vacuum has a 200ml water tank for its mopping feature.
Being a smart device, it connects via WiFi and you can control it remotely from the Hi Home app. It is also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. The Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop is available at all authorised Mi stores in Malaysia from 25th June.
Mi Wi-Fi Range Extender Pro
If you have WiFI dead spots at home, the Xiaomi Mi WiFi Range Extender Pro can help to extend your WiFi coverage. It is priced at RM59 and it will be available for purchase at all authorised Mi stores in Malaysia from 25th June.
The WiFi range extender has 2×2 external antennas with a transmission rate of up to 300Mbps. Do take note that it doesn’t extend your 5GHz WiFi as it only supports 2.4GHz 802.11n WiFi.
According to Xiaomi, the device can support up to 16 devices concurrently and you can manage the app via the Hi Home app. From the supplied product pictures, the device uses a 2-pin plug which is compatible with our UK standard 3-pin wall socket.
Mi Ionic Hairdryer
Last but not least, is the Mi Ionic Hairdryer that’s going for RM179. The hairdryer features a condensation technology which atomises the water in the air into tiny negatively charged water ions which are emitted from the nozzle. This supposedly helps to dry your hair rapidly while preventing loss of moisture.
With ions, the hairdryer can reduce static electricity which also helps to prevent frizz and increase shine. According to the spec-sheet, the hairdryer produces a rapid airflow of 1.6 cubic meters of air per minute and has a fan speed of 20,000rpm with a rated power of 1800W.
It also features an NTC smart temperature control module to reduce damage to hair and scalp caused by excessive temperature. The body of the device comes with a smooth UV coating which is said to be dirt and scratch-resistant. Also included is a 360-degree rotating nozzle that’s attached magnetically. Overall, it weighs 547g including the nozzle and it comes with a 1.7m cable. Like the other products, it is also available at all authorised Mi Stores in Malaysia starting today.
