The Honor MagicBook is one of the most value for money laptops that’s priced under RM2,300. Now the Huawei sub-brand is about to introduce another new laptop in Malaysia very soon.
When the Honor 9A was announced yesterday, Honor Malaysia has revealed that it will be expanding its product offering locally with a new laptop in July 2020. There isn’t any info about the next laptop but we are guessing that it could be the MagicBook variant that was launched in Europe. Here are some of the possible options:
MagicBook 14/15
When the MagicBook laptops were launched in Barcelona in February, it came in two sizes – 14″ and 15.6″ with both pushing Full HD resolution. In terms of specs, they are quite similar to the MagicBook that’s currently sold here and they are also running on an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with Radeon Vega 8 graphics. The major difference is the exterior design as the European spec has a squarish look that comes with blue chamfers around the lid. On top of that, it also lighter at 1.38kg and it comes with a hidden webcam on the keyboard.
The MagicBook 14 and 15 for Europe can be configured with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and SSD storage of either 256GB or 512GB. The 56Wh battery is rated to provide up to 10 hours of usage and it supports 65W fast charging via USB-C port. There are also 2 USB Type-A ports (1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0), an HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
In Europe, the MagicBook 14 with 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD is officially priced at EUR 599 (about RM2,892). Expect prices to be much lower if it comes to Malaysia.
MagicBook Pro
Just a month ago, Honor has also revealed the MagicBook Pro in China that’s powered by 10th gen Intel processor. The laptop comes with a larger 16.1″ Full HD IPS display and it comes with either Intel Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U processor options along with an Nvidia GeForce MX350 graphics with 2GB GDDR5 RAM. The MagicBook Pro comes with 16GB of DRR4 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
Honor has been quite generous with it comes to ports as the laptop has 3x USB-A (USB 3.0) ports, 1x USB-C, a full-size HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Despite having a larger screen, the MagicBook Pro still comes with a 56Wh battery and it is rated to last up to 11.5 hours on a single charge.
It also supports 65W fast charging via USB-C and it is rated to push 50% charge in 30 minutes. Since this is a larger 16″ laptop, it is also heavier at 1.7kg and has a thickness of 16.9mm. In China, the MagicBook Pro starts from CNY 5,999 (about RM3,625).
At the moment, it isn’t clear which model is coming to Malaysia. We expect Honor Malaysia to drop more clues as we get closer to the actual launch next month.
