COVID-19: New cases jump to 21 today, 12 Malaysians among local cases

The Ministry of Health Malaysia has recorded 21 new COVID-19 cases today, which brings the total number of infections to 8,556. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains at 121.

There are 76 new recoveries today and a total of 8,146 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate currently stands at 95.21% while the mortality rate is 1.41%.

COVID-19 Malaysia status

At the moment, there are 289 active cases remaining which are currently isolated and receiving treatment. There are 3 patients in ICU and there are no cases which require respiratory support.

COVID-19 breakdown

Out of the 21 new cases reported today, 2 are imported (1 Malaysian and 1 permanent resident) while 19 are transmitted locally. From the local cases, 12 are Malaysians which consists of 10 cases in Selangor and 1 case each in Negeri Sembilan and Sabah. Meanwhile, there are 7 cases involving foreigners reported in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 679,826 individuals have been tested for COVID-19 so far. The positive rate is at 1.26%.
