COVID-19: New cases drop to 6 today, 344 active cases remaining

Malaysia has recorded a single-digit number of new COVID-19 infections with 6 cases today. This brings the total number of infections to 8,535. There are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains at 121.

The Ministry of Health has reported 70 new recoveries and a total of 8,070 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 94.55% while the mortality rate is 1.42%.

There are currently 344 active cases remaining which are still receiving treatment. 3 patients are in ICU and there are no cases that require respiratory support.

Out of the 6 cases today, 2 are imported involving 1 Malaysian and 1 permanent resident. There are 4 local cases involving Malaysians. This comprises of 1 case each in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak. The new case in Sarawak is a new addition to the Kidurong cluster in Bintulu.

At the moment, the Ministry of Health has screened 674,551 individuals for COVID-19. The positive rate is 1.27%.
