Malaysia has recorded 8 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections in the country to 8,453. Unfortunately, there’s one new death recorded and the death toll now stands at 121.
There are 35 new recoveries today, and a total of 7,346 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 86.90% while the mortality rate is 1.43%.
At the moment, there are 986 active cases remaining which are currently isolated and still receiving treatment. This is the first time the number of active cases has dropped below 1,000 since the 20th March 2020. Four patients are currently in ICU and there are no cases that require respiratory support.
Among the 8 new cases today, 2 are imported cases which consists of permanent residents. From the 6 local transmissions, 4 are foreigners from the Kuala Lumpur 2 construction site cluster. Meanwhile, the remaining two cases are Malaysian citizens – a student in Bintulu and a senior citizen in Melaka.
