COVID-19: New cases jump to 43 today, 15 Malaysians among 38 local cases

Malaysia has recorded 43 new COVID-19 cases today and this brings the total number of infections to 8,445. Unfortunately, there’s one new death reported today and the death toll now stands at 120.

The latest fatality is a 96-year-old Malaysian woman. She passed away at home and was brought to Hospital Queen Elizabeth at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The Ministry of Health has recorded 143 new recoveries, and a total of 7,311 patients have already recovered and discharged so far. At the moment, the recovery rate is 86.57% while the mortality rate is 1.42%.

COVID-19 Malaysia Status

At the moment, there are 1,014 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 4 patients are in ICU and there are no cases that require respiratory support.

Out of the 43 cases recorded today, 5 are imported which consists of 4 Malaysians and 1 Permanent Resident. Among the 38 local cases, 15 are Malaysians while the remaining 23 are foreigners. It is reported that 21 out of 23 new cases involving foreigners are from the Bukit Jalil Immigration detention depot cluster.
