Latest fuel price: RON95 and RON97 petrol up 8 sen, diesel up 10 sen

The Ministry of Finance has announced the latest fuel prices for the coming week and it’s up again for both petrol and diesel. Petrol price for both RON95 and RON97 is up 8 sen while Diesel price jumps 10 sen per litre.

Below are the fuel prices for the period between 13th to 19th June 2020.

RON95 – RM1.56/litre (+8 sen)

RON97 – RM1.86/litre (+8 sen)

Diesel – RM1.73/litre (+10 sen)

Diesel (Euro 5) – RM1.83/litre (+10 sen)

With domestic travel restrictions lifted under the RMCO, more Malaysians are expected to drive interstate this coming weekend. As always, highway users are reminded to have sufficient credit in your Touch ‘n Go card before you start your journey and to be cautious on the road.

It was recently reported that the price control order which sets a ceiling price for RON95 petrol at RM2.08 has been removed after a revocation order was announced on the government’s gazette. Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi has clarified that the gazette was meant to enforce price control on oil companies and petrol station operators so that they do not sell fuel higher than the prices set by the Finance Ministry.

He emphasised that enforcement of petrol retail prices under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 was more effective because it carries 5x higher penalty (maximum up to RM5 million) towards any petrol company or petrol station operator that sells fuel above the stipulated price.
