Montblanc Summit 2+: A travel smartwatch that helps you conquer jet lag

Montblanc has introduced its latest high-end smartwatch, the Summit 2+, an updated version of its Summit 2 smartwatch from 2018. The new Summit 2+ is able to stay connected with a 4G LTE connection, which is rare for for a smartwatch powered by Google’s Wear OS.

Like its predecessor, the Summit 2, it operates on a Qualcomm 3100 wear platform. It is able to sync with your smartphone and manage your text messages, calendar events and daily tasks with Google Assistant.

The Summit 2+ accepts electronic SIM cards (eSIMs), allowing it to duplicate your smartphone’s number on your wrist and enable you to make on-wrist calls without your phone nearby. Navigation is primarily handled by the watch’s touchscreen but users can also use the rotating crown and two programmable pushers.

Even though the Summit 2+ is a high tech new age smartwatch it still looks and feels like a traditional timepiece. This is thanks to the inclusion of Montblanc’s signature oversized crown and a classic mechanical dial. The 43.5mm pure steel case houses a 1.28″ AMOLED, protected by Sapphire glass and with its IPx8 rating, you don’t need to worry about getting it wet.

A built-in watch face configurator offers users over a thousand designs that replicate classic Montblanc watches. Watch faces elements from the indicators, background, hands and complications are all customisable. Adding to that, there are a variety of interchangeable strap options that allow each user to find their own style.

The Summit 2+ comes with plenty of sensors such as speedometer, barometer, compass and GPS, the Summit 2+ is perfect for the great outdoors. Those seeking to maintain peak physical performance can utilise the built-in work out coach called V02 max that recommends personalised exercises as well as track your health and wellbeing via its advanced Heart Rate Algorithm.

Though we won’t be travelling any time soon, the Summit 2+ has with two new travel functions. There is the Timeshifter app which provides personalised advice on how to adjust to a new timezone and minimise jet lag. There is also a voice-activated translator that does real-time translation by taking spoken words and displays the translation on the watch display.

The Summit 2+’s 440mAh battery is claimed to offer a full day of battery with the always-on ambient mode turned on. Deactivating smartwatch functionality lengthens the battery by an extra 3 to 5 days.

According to Montblanc, the Summit 2+ will retail for USD1,170 (MYR5,000) and will be available at Montblanc boutiques worldwide and online.
