Mercedes-Benz has introduced its latest generation of Mercedes-AMG compact cars: the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC (A 35), A 45 S 4MATIC+ (A 45 S) and CLA 45 4MATIC+ (CLA 45) in Malaysia. The trio of performance vehicles are primed to lead the compact segment given the high demand for compact models.
It was a unique launch as it was done completely online, a first for the brand, due to the current Conditional Movement Control Order (CMO), on Mercedes-Benz’s Youtube and Facebook.
“With the new generation Mercdes-AMG cars, we are redefining the standards of sports, performance and luxury in Malaysia. These three are aggressively bred for both, the road and racetrack,” said Dr Claus Weidner, CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
Mercedes-Benz is offering something exciting and new with the three new compact cars with an aggressive design that is befitting of a supercar. The new range boasts Mercedes’ newly developed 2.0-litre engine, claimed to be its most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder manufactured for series production.
New Multibeam LED headlamps offer brighter, more natural illumination by night and eye-catching design by day. In addition to the outstanding quality of light, the Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus is able to control the LEDs by switching between low, partial and main beam automatically.
Improving upon the innovations made by their predecessors, the three new cars heavily focus on performance, driving dynamics and design. There is plenty of technology packed within the three models with the inclusion of AMG Track Pace, a data logging tool that is part of the MBUX infotainment system.
Using a combination of GPS data as well as the sensors available in the vehicle (acceleration, gyroscope, steering angle, wheel speeds), it continuously monitors more than 80 vehicle-specific data (e.g. speed, acceleration) along with lap times are displayed. The MBUX Augmented Reality function allows stored race track data to be displayed on the instrument cluster and optional head-up display, encouraging drivers to improve their lap times.
Race fans will be pleased to note that both A 35 and A 45 S come in the limited Edition 1 package. Both variants of the Edition 1 come with 19-inch 5-twin-spoke aero-wheels that are painted in matt black. Also, the louvres in the radiator grille of the Edition 1 are retained in silver chrome to enhance the exclusive appearance.
The new A 35 presents itself as an ideal entry point for those looking to get into the world of Mercedes-AMG. A powerful exterior design is enhanced by characteristic AMG elements such as the prominent radiator grille with twin louvres.
Under the hood you will find a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo engine that is capable of 306 hp output and 400 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G transmission enables it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. It has a top speed of 250km/h.
In addition, it comes with AMG Performance 4MATIC variable all-wheel drive, the car provides the ideal combination of superb grip and driving pleasure. Even on the inside, you will find AMG’s design language all around the vehicle with AMG Performance seats, AMG Performance steering wheel with nappa leather and a dual Widescreen Cockpit, made up of two 10.25-inch widescreen displays, that gives it a true racecar feel.
The A 35 will be available in metallic denim blue with decals in matt Tech Gold on the exterior mirror caps and in the lower part of the doors, paired with the exclusive 19-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt Tech Gold with a high-sheen finish
Moving up the line, the A 45 S takes the crown as the top range A-Class. This is a true racer’s car –characterised by its distinctive front apron and AMG radiator grille with louvres in silver chrome plus bonnet. It is enhanced by its 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with red painted brake calipers and the two twin tailpipe trims distinguish it unmistakably from the A 35.
That AMG race aesthetic carries inside too with AMG Performance seats and an AMG Performance steering wheel in Dinamica microfibre. Similar to the A 35, it has twin 10.25 widescreen displays.
It comes powered by a new M139 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that outputs 416hp and 500Nm of torque. It is also differentiated by its eight-speed AMG Speedshift DCT 8G dual-clutch transmission. It is claimed to sprint from 0 -100km/h in just 3.9 seconds. It runs slightly quicker with a top speed of 270km/h.
The A 45 S will be available in two colours: Sun Yellow (like in the pictures above) and Designo Mountain Grey Magno.
Last but not least, the CLA 45 S, the sporty four-door coupe of the line up. Just like A 45 S, it has a M139 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood so the performance and output is similar. Even so, the CLA 45 S is priced lower than the A 45 S, but this is due to the fact that the A 45 S arrives in a highest-spec Edition 1 form. Apart from that, the only difference is that the A 45 S is a tenth slower than the A 45 S at 4 seconds but it still maintains a top speed of 270km/h.
Like the other cars in the range the CLA 45 S +boasts a high tech looking cockpit with AMG Performance seats, AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre and cool AMG illuminated door sills.
The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ and Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ are available now for RM379,888, RM459,888 and RM448,888 respectively. All prices reflected are On The Road without insurance.
To help make your Mercedes-AMG dreams come true, Mercedes-Benz is offering two financing packages: Agility Financing, which start from RM4,485 per month, and AMGPro Financing, which starts from RM4,688 per month.
