Samsung Galaxy A31 now available in Malaysia, priced at RM1,099

If you’re looking for a more affordable Samsung mid-range device, the Galaxy A31 is now on sale in Malaysia. The device replaces the Galaxy A30s and it sits right below the Galaxy A51.

The Samsung Galaxy A31 with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at RM1,099 and you can buy it now from several retailers on Lazada Malaysia. It’s available in 3 colours – Blue, White and Black.

As a comparison, the older Galaxy A30s was launched with 64GB of storage for RM899 and a larger 128GB storage variant was later introduced for RM999. Although the new Galaxy A31 costs RM100 more, it has a couple of notable upgrades.

The device still retains a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display but it now pushes a Full HD+ resolution of 2400×1080 instead of having a lower HD+ screen on the A30s. The screen has a small notch at the top and it has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Instead of an Exynos processor, the A31 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P65 which is similar to the Vivo S1.

For taking pictures, the device now gets an improved quad-camera setup. It has a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, and two 5MP cameras for macro and depth effects. The phone also gets a 20MP selfie camera that sits on a tiny notch on the top of the screen.

Powering the device is a larger 5,000mAh battery which is 25% bigger than its predecessor. It charges via USB-C and it supports 15W fast charging. Also retained is a 3.5mm headphone jack and you can still expand storage via a microSD card. The device also has NFC and it supports Samsung Pay.

If you’re looking for a phone with a larger battery, there’s also the Samsung Galaxy M31 that’s priced at RM1,099. It also features a 6.4″ Full HD+ AMOLED display but it packs a higher resolution 64MP main camera and a larger 6,000mAh battery. Take note that the build is probably less premium than the Galaxy A series and it doesn’t come with NFC support.
