COVID-19: New cases drop to 31 today, confirmed cases now over 7,000 in Malaysia

The Ministry of Health has announced 31 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections in Malaysia to 7,009. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 114.

The ministry has also announced an increase of recoveries with 60 new recovered cases today. A total of 5,706 patients have already recovered and discharged so far. At the moment, the recovery rate stands at 81.41% while the mortality rate is at 1.63%.

At the moment, there are 1,189 patients that are still receiving treatment. Out of the figure, 11 are in ICU while 7 require respiratory support.

Out of the 31 new cases reported today, 10 are imported cases and the remaining 21 are transmitted locally. Out of the 21 local cases, 10 are non-Malaysians. The 10 imported cases include 4 persons returning from the US, 2 from Singapore and 1 each from the UK, Egypt, the Netherlands and Qatar.

The ministry has recorded 5 new cases from the Pudu cluster and there are no new cases at the PJ Old Town EMCO area.

For those that plan to visit relatives during Hari Raya, the ministry has urged the public to do so only on the first day and to follow the SOP. It is still advisable to celebrate behind-closed-doors and to avoid movement, especially to red zones. The number of guests permitted also depends on the size of your home to ensure social distancing is practised.

At the same time, MOH have also reported a 40% decline of blood supply compared to last year due to the movement control order. The public is advised to come forward to donate blood to ensure sufficient supply of blood in the country.
