COVID-19: Malaysia records 22 new cases today, 80.81% of cases have recovered

The Ministry of Health has recorded 22 new COVID-19 cases today, which brings the total number of infections to 6,894. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported today and the death toll currently stands at 113.

There are 59 new recoveries today, and a total of 5,571 patients have already recovered and discharged. The recovery rate is currently at 80.81% while the mortality rate is 1.64%

There are currently 1,210 active cases that are still receiving treatment. 13 are in ICU while 7 require respiratory support.

Among the 22 new cases, 5 are imported. There are 17 local transmissions and 9 are non-Malaysians.

From the breakdown by state, 13 cases are in Kuala Lumpur, followed by 8 in Selangor and 1 case in Pahang. There are currently three active COVID-19 clusters and there are 3 new cases from Kg. Sungai Lui, 2 from Pasar Chowkit and 1 from Pudu.

As of 12pm yesterday, 16th of May, there are 7 red zones, 73 yellow zones and 121 green zones. The red zones are located in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak. The Ministry of Health stressed that interstate travel is not allowed unless it is authorised by the Royal Malaysia Police.
